Summer Internship Reflection

Summer Internship Reflection

Seventy2 Capital offers a robust internship program for college students interested in wealth management and related fields. The following blog was written by Robin Brino, a Marketing Intern during the summer of 2026. Learn more about internship opportunities at https://www.seventy2capital.com/internships/.

This past summer, I had the wonderful opportunity to intern with the marketing team at Seventy2 Capital Wealth Management. As a rising junior studying marketing at the University of Maryland, this experience gave me valuable real-world exposure to the demands of marketing within the financial services industry, allowing me to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to a variety of hands-on projects throughout the summer.

I had the privilege of working under Katy Jones Powe, Chief Marketing Officer at Seventy2 Capital, with support from marketing specialists Ella Simet and Marshall Rubenstein. Their guidance and encouragement made this internship both fulfilling and rewarding, as I was able to explore different areas of marketing within a private wealth management firm.

Throughout the summer, I was assigned a wide range of projects related to both internal and external events. I helped source swag and decor from vendors for annual conference planning, designed graphics for marketing materials and company collateral, and created templated designs for team members across the firm. Going into the internship, I wasn’t entirely sure which areas of marketing interested me most, so I was excited to explore a variety of responsibilities both within and beyond the company. Over time, I found myself especially drawn to graphic design and event planning, and was grateful for the opportunity to strengthen those skills through my work.

In addition to improving my graphic design skills, I also learned the importance of adhering to compliance standards across the company. I gained experience transforming creative ideas into designs that met marketing requirements, making sure that each piece was both visually engaging and fully compliant.

Another aspect of the internship that stood out to me was the collaborative and welcoming environment fostered by the marketing team. Watching new ideas develop through brainstorming sessions gave me insight into how marketing plans come to life. During meetings, we discussed ways to expand marketing collateral that aligned with the company’s mission, values, and goals, building on one another’s ideas to create thoughtful and comprehensive strategies. Many of our sessions also included time for team bonding through short games and light discussion, which contributed to the team’s conversational, supportive atmosphere and helped us collaborate more effectively.

One experience I’d especially like to highlight was attending the Women in Finance event, where women from across all offices came together to discuss their results from the CliftonStrengths assessment. I got to better understand my own strengths and the areas where I can continue to grow throughout my education and career, while also gaining insight from professionals both inside and outside the office.

I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity I had to work with the Seventy2 Capital internship program this summer, and I’m excited to continue to develop the skills and grow my marketing abilities with the newfound knowledge, expertise, and experience I’m leaving with!
